body hair

Growing hair is a normal part of puberty. Hair can grow in the armpits, around nipples, chest, back, legs, labia, butt, and penis. Hair removal is something that is completely optional, but many people choose to do it.

Some reasons why people may choose to remove their body hair might be hygine, as hair can create a "swampy" feeling, or aesthetic. Hair removal makes some people feel confident, which is completely valid.

Hair removal options avalible include:

  • Shaving with a basic razor - this is a super accessible way to shave. Be careful and slow when shaving areas like the vulva, penis, and/or anus. Shaving in the shower, especially for larger patches of hair may make the process easier.

  • Shaving with an electric razor - the brand "man scape" is infamous for their marketing on their no-nick, waterproof razors. A great option for shaving faster.

  • Hair removal cream - a chemical that makes the hair weak, so it is easy to scrape off. Do a test patch to test sensitivity before using on the face, penis, vulva, or anus!

  • Plucking - a slower more careful, customized, and sometimes painful way to remove unwanted hair. There are electic machines that do the job faster, but can be very painful.

  • Laser hair removal - an expensive but effective procedure which permanently eliminates hair growth in particular areas where it is unwanted. Some transgender women decide to get this procedure as a part of feeling more comfortable in their body.
